Senator John McCain, he of the carefully cultivated “maverick” moniker, rebuked his constituents and party today as one of three Republican Senators that voted against the “skinny repeal” of Obamacare. The politician, who has been representing Arizona for 35 years (first in the House and then the Senate) joined Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine with 48 Democrats to ensure that the repeal of Obamacare failed.
This comes as a shocker to some since Sen. McCain voted for the repeal of Obamacare in 2015, stating at the time:
“Today, I was proud to join my colleagues in Congress to continue the fight to repeal and replace Obamacare. Since its enactment, Obamacare has been full of empty promises that have only made our nation’s health care problems worse. I hear from Arizonans every day who have been saddled by rising premiums, increased health care costs, and reduced access to doctors and hospitals. In fact, according to data released last month, 24 insurance plans in the Obamacare exchanges will see double-digit rate hikes in 2016, while residents of Phoenix are expected to see their premiums increase to [sic] roughly 19 percent. The highest average premium increase in Arizona is projected to reach a whopping 78 percent.
“For five long years, Americans have been let down by Obamacare’s broken promises. The legislation we passed today would unburden Americans from the harmful effects of this failed law and build a bridge to health care solutions that work for families in Arizona and across the country. It is clear that any serious attempt to improve our health care system must begin with a full repeal and replacement of Obamacare, and I will continue fighting on behalf of the people of Arizona to achieve it.”
However, the repeal of Obamacare in 2015 had absolutely zero chance of passing, which may be why John McCain was so proud of this ceremonial vote that for some strange reason, it’s still posted on his official .gov website. At least until Sen. McCain has the intern that runs his website take it down and thus expunging the ironically touted bit of hypocrisy from his history.
Seeing as how the staggering costs of Obamacare have only continued to spiral upwards since 2015 and the now laughably ludicrous phrase “you can keep your doctor” has been exposed as a blatant lie, the AHCA (Obamacare) has become an albatross hanging around the neck of the healthcare industry and America itself. Insurers began to flee the Obamacare exchanges before President Trump was even elected, finally bringing to the light of day all the faults of the program that had been hurting many Americans.
With this vote, Sen McCain has foolishly chosen the wrong side of history. His blind hatred for a man, President Trump, that John McCain doesn’t consider worthy of the office, has made him choose Big Government, Big Spending, and the continual bailing out of the insurance industry to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars of American taxpayer dollars. Annually.
Though some have claimed that Sen. McCain, already known as a ‘RINO’ (Republican In Name Only) has long ago sold out his constituents in favor of corporate special interests, what could be happening here is much different. John McCain may actually think that his vote makes him a ‘maverick’ and cements his legacy in the minds of those that he sees protesting loudly in the streets with their pussy hats and Antifa brand face coverings. Instead, as conservatives already know, the only people getting air time are the oftentimes violent anti-American Social Justice Warriors that are used as a cudgel for the Elite Globalists. With his vote, John McCain has only cemented his reputation as a man out-of-touch with what his constituents want and what America needs. Senator McCain has revealed himself as a maverick, albeit a maverick Democrat.
