Attorney General Jeff Sessions has just announced the end of the DACA Program. The program, implemented by an Obama executive order in 2012, will be wound down.
After President Trump tweeted earlier this morning, “Congress, get ready to do your job – DACA!”, the Attorney General has announced that the program will be ended. Begun in 2012 by an Obama executive order, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals allowed approximately 800,000 illegal immigrants the ability to stay, work and collect government benefits in the United States via two-year renewable permits.
This unilateral executive order was similar to DAPA, which the courts struck down as an illegal action earlier this year. DACA saw a massive spike in unaccompanied children migrating illegally to the United States. Though the program was seemingly for “children” non-minors were also able to take advantage of the benefits afforded recipients.
This announcement comes after weeks of heated debate as Democrat and some Republican lawmakers, as well as their Mainstream Media allies, defended the need for the program and the cheap labor that it provided. What the MSM wouldn’t and didn’t report on, however, were number of DACA recipients deported for criminal activities, the fact that DACA recipients could be as old as 31 years old (in 2012) to apply for the program and the job losses and repressed wages that DACA created for legal immigrants and American workers.
Attorney General Sessions announced that the unconstitutional and illegal program would be wound down so that Congress could if they see fit, offer up legal legislation overhauling the US’ broken immigration system.
